Gear Break: Pearl Izumi PRO jersey, Factor bikes announces all-new MONZA – Performance refined for the modern day racer, Muc-Off: It blows! Precision air blaster, Nimbl is the official shoe of the 2025 Giro d’Italia, Santini & Unibet Tietema Rockets Team: The 2025 official kit is now on sale and ROKA and Chris Burkard series of lens cases.

Pearl Izumi PRO Jersey – $180

What Pearl Izumi sez:  Designed for those who demand top-tier performance and sleek, aerodynamic comfort. Crafted with elite-level PRO Transfer fabric, this jersey delivers exceptional moisture management and breathability, keeping you cool and dry through every sprint, climb, and all-out effort.

Engineered for the perfect race fit, its streamlined silhouette minimizes drag, while the raw-edge sleeves and bonded seams ensure a second-skin feel that moves effortlessly with you. Whether you’re pushing watts or racking up the miles, the longer sleeve length and tailored cut maximize aerodynamics without sacrificing comfort.

  • Strategically placed solid and mesh lightweight Italian fabrics provides positive compression
  • Iconic Speed Sleeve construction
  • YKK semi-locking front zipper adjusts venting easily on the fly
  • Traditional 3 rear pockets and one rear zipper pocket
  • Bonded, no-stitch clean hemlines
  • Made with recycled content
  • BioViz® powerful reflective elements that reach 100 meters for night visibility
  • UPF 30

PEZ sez:  The Pearl Izumi PRO Jersey comes in different choices.:

  • Black (for that murdered out, goes with everything look)
  • Air Blue (a light blue)
  • Twilight (a dark blue)
  • Goji Berry (red to my eye)
  • Black Stripe (neon yellow accents on the sleeves)
  • Twilight Stripe (light blue accents on the sleeves)

Plus two new colorways:

  • Surf Spray Tri Color
  • Stellar Tri Color

PEZ got the Stellar Tri Color that’s three panels of different shades of blue. To me, it evokes the style of 60s/70s-era racing jerseys.

Pearl Izumi doesn’t spec weight, but definitely light

Construction/design-wise, the Pearl Izumi PRO Jersey is fairly “typical” (which isn’t a criticism and not a bad thing):

  • The front is two panels connected by a full-length zipper (YKK, so the gold standard)
  • Two side panels
  • A single back panel with a silicone dot strip at the hem (and, of course, three rear pockets plus a secure zipper pocket)
  • The raw cut sleeves are a “hybrid” construction — set-in at the front and raglan at the back — with a thin silicone gripper on the inside of the sleeve ends
  • A very low, essentially collar-less, collar
  • Serge stitching connecting all the different panels

Even though the YKK zipper locks down, the zipper pocket at the collar is added prevention to keep it from flipping up

Silicone strip for grip

The front and side panels are a “micro” mesh material for venting/wicking. The rear panel is a solid material. The sleeves mesh at the front and solid at the back. So definitely a warm weather jersey. I wear a base layer when I ride, but the material is soft enough against my bare skin such that I would be comfortable enough riding in it without one.

The full-length zipper flap (NOTE that it’s mesh for air flow) keeps the zipper from rubbing against bare skin (including at the collar)

Mesh (green) and solid (yellow) material for different panels

Fit-wise, size small was form fitting on me (5’8″, 130 pounds, ectomorph). Not a spray on, second skin fit, but it still hugged/clung to my body shape (such as it is). What I would call a “comfortably tight” race fit. In other words, not a fit that’s going to hide any extra winter pounds/kilos you might be carrying.

Three rear pockets plus secure zipper pocket

It’s technically spring, but at least here in the Lowcountry, the weather is already warmer. Meaning most days are sunny and in the 70s (F) — sometimes up into the 80s. The Pearl Izumi PRO Jersey has been more than up to the task for riding in those conditions. And I’m confident that with the mesh panels for venting it will be as good as can be reasonably expected when the high heat and humidity of summer arrives. At which point it’s not necessarily just about the kit; it’s probably more about the question of one’s sanity (especially on routes that don’t afford a lot of shade — which is a lot of my Lowcountry riding).

You wouldn’t necessarily be wrong to call this jersey Les Bleus

Factor Bikes Announces All-New MONZA – Performance Refined for the Modern Day Racer
MONZA delivers elite-level performance for serious road racers, fusing real-world usability with Factor’s racing DNA

Focus Monza 2025

Factor Bikes, the premium performance bicycle brand, has announced the new MONZA performance road race bike. Integrating the latest technology from across Factor’s portfolio, the MONZA is optimised for racers seeking the perfect balance between high performance and everyday practicality.

Taking its name from one of the world’s most iconic racing circuits, the MONZA is built on the industry-leading engineering of the OSTRO VAM to deliver raw performance and relentless speed to the everyday racer. The MONZA is a true high-performance race bike that balances speed, efficiency, and real-world usability while retaining Factor’s racing DNA.

Drawing on the developmental DNA of the OSTRO VAM – independently tested as the world’s fastest road bike and proven in World Tour victories with Israel – Premier Tech – the MONZA carries this racing pedigree forward in a refined and streamlined package.

Focus Monza 2025

Optimised shape and materials
The MONZA retains an aero-optimised frame, tuned for efficiency in real-world racing conditions while refining certain features and materials to reduce manufacturing complexity and costs.

Similar to the OSTRO VAM, the MONZA utilises an integrated and aero-optimised front end that has been meticulously designed to promote flow attachment and reduce drag. However, unlike Factor’s flagship all-round road machine, the MONZA features a planar break between the fork and frame. This approach enables Factor to deliver refined elite-level performance to a wider cycling audience.

The MONZA’s design leverages the OSTRO VAM’s proven technology with a more streamlined approach. The head tube and fork feature converging contours, while the top tube, seat stays, and chain stays have smaller-profiled tube sections with tighter, more refined lines—enhancing both aerodynamics and manufacturing efficiency.

A strategic carbon layup reduces cost while maintaining Factor’s signature ride feel. The MONZA’s balanced stiffness-to-weight ratio ensures explosive power transfer and efficiency at high speeds.

Focus Monza 2025

Performance geometry and handling
With an ambition to deliver handling identical to Factor’s WorldTour race bikes, the slightly democratised fit features an increased stack height by 10 mm. This allows for a broader range of rider flexibility and comfort without sacrificing performance.

Retaining the responsive ride feel Factor racers demand, the head-tube angle and fork offset are identical to the OSTRO VAM. The short chain stay lengths and wheelbase are also the same, tuned for both fast-moving pelotons and solo rides.

Focus Monza 2025

Simplified maintenance and usability
An all-new HB04 integrated, semi-aero barstem features optimised hand positioning and moulded cable entry ports. This reduces machining complexities and facilitates easy cable routing while offering a clean, simplified front end.

Retaining an aero-first design, the MONZA’s head-tube assembly prioritises a pragmatic approach with a simpler round steerer than the OSTRO VAM’s, paired with a larger 1.5″ bearing. This allows for more straightforward internal cable routing for cyclists to set up and adjust their position.

Integrated in-frame storage, inspired by the SLiCK, features a convenient latch mechanism for easy access to ride essentials—without compromising aerodynamics. This design saves up to six watts of drag while lowering the centre of gravity.

With 34mm tire clearance, the MONZA hits the sweet spot between aerodynamics and versatility, ensuring optimal performance in real-world conditions.

Focus Monza 2025

Availability and specifications
Designed with every serious cyclist in mind, the MONZA is available in sizes 45, 49, 52, 54, 56, 58 and 61cm. It features refined Black Inc FORTY FIVE wheels which utilise steel spokes and readily available bearings for durability and is specced with SRAM FORCE + Power Meter or Shimano Ultegra groupsets.

The MONZA is available in three colours at launch, Solar blue, Steel Green and Pearl White.

Rob Gitelis, Factor Bikes and Black Inc Founder said: “Racing is our DNA at Factor, and we remain committed to delivering the very highest-performance products to cyclists. With the introduction of the MONZA, we’re expanding our lineup to give more racers the opportunity to experience Factor’s elite-level engineering, craftsmanship, and racing pedigree. It’s the perfect entry point into the Factor family of high-performance cycling.”

“MONZA is not a compromise; it is Factor’s vision of performance, redefined for the modern racer, tuned for efficiency, speed, and usability, without losing what makes a Factor bike special.”

Santini & Unibet Tietema Rockets Team: The 2025 Official Kit is Now on Sale

Santini Unibet 2025

After making their debut together last year, Santini Cycling once again outfits the athletes of UCI Pro Team Unibet Tietema Rockets. And now, in response to high demand from the team’s passionate fanbase, the official 2025 kit is available for all cycling enthusiasts.

A team born from an innovative project that has captured the hearts of cycling fans worldwide. It all started in 2019 when Dutch cyclist Bas Tietema, a former amateur road racer, launched a YouTube channel with two longtime friends to document their unconventional journey at the Tour de France — thus, the Tour de Tietema was born. The channel quickly gained traction, amassing hundreds of videos showcasing the race, its riders, and the entire cycling universe in a fun, offbeat way. With nearly 190,000 subscribers today, its success led to a bold move: in 2023, Bas founded his own team, initially as UCI Continental Tour de Tietema-Unibet, which then stepped up to UCI Pro Team status in 2024.

That same year, Santini Cycling signed on as the team’s official technical sponsor. Now, in 2025, the team — rebranded as Unibet Tietema Rockets — will once again be racing in high-performance Santini apparel, designed to meet the demands of every season and weather condition.

The gear chosen for the team represents the pinnacle of Santini’s technology and innovation. The official jersey is the same race model worn by the Tour de France leaders, engineered for aerodynamics and comfort in even the toughest conditions. It belongs to the Custom Series, Santini’s collection of fully customizable team apparel. For the bib shorts, the team rides in a custom version of the Nova model, also part of the Custom Series, designed for a perfect fit and optimal support.

Santini provides also skinsuits for road racing and a complete range of seasonal essentials such as windproof jackets, vests, rainwear, and accessories — all featuring the team’s distinctive colors and logos.

A unique design that reflects the team’s identity

Santini Unibet 2025

For the 2025 kit, the Unibet Tietema Rockets team collaborated closely with Santini’s designers to create a look that embodies their playful yet fearless and competitive spirit. The team’s signature colors — blue, fuchsia, violet, and yellow — set the stage for the introduction of the rocket, the new official emblem for the 2025 season. This dynamic symbol appears across the riders’ apparel and accessories, reinforcing a bold, coordinated image that stands out in the peloton.

Fan replicas now available
For fans eager to feel part of the Unibet Tietema Rockets world, the official replica kit is now available for purchase. Each piece delivers the same commitment to quality and attention to detail that define Santini’s products, ensuring outstanding fit and performance for every cyclist.

  • The official team kit replica is available at www.santinicycling.com and through authorized retailers worldwide.

ROKA and Chris Burkard Series of Lens Cases

ROKA 2025

There is a new collaboration between ROKA and Chris Burkard. It’s a series of lens cases with Burkard photos on them. They’re a bit larger than the usual inline cases that come with ROKA glasses, perfect for one’s glasses or as gear pouches.

ROKA 2025

  • MSRP: $15
  • Launch with 3 styles, 3 more to come shortly after – date TBD

Roka 2025

This is our first product collab with Chris Burkard. This combo – a glasses case that protects your ROKA eyewear + Chris Burkard iconic photography – can also be used for any combination of small gear you need to stow. It is a great stand-alone purchase, as well as an excellent add on to current glasses purchases.
